Heritage Customs VALIANCE: carefully curated and personalized
Every time when admirers of the British 4x4 icon report to Heritage Customs with the request to design a tailored version of their Defender, the studio for carchitecture sees it as an honourable task to translate the base car into a unique piece of modern car design.
"We celebrate both the Defender and the owner through each commission." Says designer Niels van Roij. “In a co-design process with the patron, we shape exterior and interior. We process the finest materials, such as Tweeds, leathers, denims, teak woods and lambswool. We have designed an interior symbolising a Caribbean island where one of our clients met his wife and have colour matched paints to the classic Defender another owner has in his collection.
Jan-Pieter Kroezen of Heritage Customs: “Each bespoke VALIANCE is a real design statement with distinctive, custom-made details such as aluminium air vents in the fender and milled protective plates on the bonnet. Exclusive personal ideas can be added to all our hand-made cars. And a selections of distinctive colours, designs and patterns are available for the Heritage Customs VALIANCE interior upholstery.
The construction of the first three bespoke Heritage Customs VALIANCE has now been completed. According to Jan-Pieter Kroezen every Heritage Customs commission will be carefully composed: “If desired, each VALIANCE can have striking materials and colour schemes for both interior and exterior. Everything is possible: from laser engraved aluminium door inlays and dashboard trim, to personalized tread plates and colour-matched leathers in chic patterns. From an aluminium boot lid insert to refined embroidery.”
A selection of bespoke 20 and 22 inch wheels are also available. Depending on the commission Heritage Customs can install solid aluminium side vents, design unique duotone exterior paints and can even replace the faux plastic diamond plate on the bonnet for proper milled aluminium units. Inside the cars the Heritage Customs logo has been embroidered into the headrests of the seats. The monogram can also be found outside of the car, for instance on the contrasting exterior body element in the windows.
